Week 26 Map Check Newsletter
Map Check: a deliberate pause where you reflect on where you've come from -- and to plan the route ahead. Map Check will do exactly that by amplifying points and data from Azimuth Check, and provide you some things to cook on as you head into the week.
To live life on the offense, you need to have a strategy -- otherwise, you're on the defense and reacting as life happens... so let's get started!
Here's your weekly Azimuth Check recap - to watch the video: Weekly Azimuth Check
"We know we're getting better – but how do we quantify that improvement? We do this by our daily actions. Read something that spurs thoughts, insights, or questions – and invest in yourself today. The next step? Take what you learned and tell someone about it. Word of mouth testimonials have more of an impact than any other form of marketing. Last, reflect on a positive difference you made, enjoy it long enough to make yourself smile. Then get back after it. I’m Mike Burke – and that’s your Azimuth Check for the week."
MAP CHECK, Week 26
Only 10% of people invest in themselves through professional development. As professional leaders, we’re taught from an early age that improving and supporting our followers is our number one mission – but you can’t help your followers improve if you stay stagnant. The best investment you will ever make is in yourself. This is not something that just happens though you must be deliberate. I am so passionate about this subject I wrote an article about it.

Make LPDs Worth your Leaders Time
I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s played the “coulda, shoulda, woulda” game, looking back in time and thinking about the paths I didn’t take. We can’t fix the past – but we can take those lessons we learned and apply them to the future. Kevin Kermes is someone that I believe has a achieved a high level of success. He does this by helping OTHERS define success -- not just by listening and then helping others to develop a plan; instead, he listens and asks insightful questions that strike to the true heart of the matter. Listen to Kevin discuss this yourself on the AIP podcast.

Finally, I want to include a book that has helped me take the concept of investment in others and internalize it. The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek has allowed me to take something that might seem intangible and make it a reality – and more importantly, to pass it on to others. If you read no other chapter, at least read Chapter 1.
I'm grateful for your continued support. Make sure to visit https://www.alwaysinpursuit.org/ to see our latest updates, check out the blog and stop by the shop to get the latest AIP swag! and remember -- Live Life on the Offense!
