Episode 30 Revisited If I can, I Must with JJ Wilson and James Boyd from Adyton

When we first started the podcast people asked what we envisioned for it. We even had a few mentors tell us that there was no money in it. That wasn’t the point though as money wasn’t the motivating factor. We wanted to start something that would provide mentorship, add value, and of course begin another podcast because I personally enjoyed having remarkable conversations with inspiring people.

This project quickly grew legs and became something that needed help. The help meant we needed to professionalize it. It was a representation of the Burke name, and as we released more episodes it also represented our guests. This all costs money to do correctly and professionally. We also believe that people can help for a while out of the kindness of their heart, but eventually they deserve to be compensated for their efforts.

Enter JJ, Jeff and James who founded the company Adyton. We were linked up by a mutual friend, Joe Byerly, the founder of From the Green Notebook From the Green Notebook . I shared with the Adyton team that we were interested in sponsorship, but that we wouldn’t entertain a relationship with anyone and we wouldn't put our name and reputation behind. It didn’t take long for all of us to realize that we had shared the same standards and values. They are a veteran owned company that had the experience and access to provide something to the military it needed.

After breaking bread and eating an amazing meal that Mrs. AIP prepared, we recorded this episode. I still find it remarkable that if you sit down with good people and ask sincere questions, the episode takes care of itself. Frankly there is no episode that we’ve produced that has felt forced or unauthentic. This episode was no different as JJ and James shared their story of service; why they decided to start a business together and what they envision for the future.

We’re thankful to know them because of this episode, their sponsorship, and for the work they continue to do with the Department of Defense. Thank you Adyton, and a successful 2022 to you all!
