Steve Corcoran circa 1998 in Myanmar

Steve Corcoran is my father-in-law and has lived a life that fascinates me. In this episode I was able to capture some of his story and aspects of his mindset that have helped him to achieve success.

In Steve's 40s he decided to sell everything and move halfway around the to Thailand where he didn’t speak the language and didn’t know anyone. With some money in his pocket and a plan, he got to work creating something new. Quickly realizing that plan wasn’t going to work, he shifted gears, trusting his intuition and ability.

From that initial bold move, he has continued to adapt as time and the world has changed and eventually created a very successful and well-known import/export business in Maine. As I look at my own life at 41 years old, I imagine doing the same thing. Selling everything and throwing myself into a world I don’t know. While scary and intimidating, it’s also inspiring. That level of commitment to one’s ability is something that has always drawn me to his stories. This is also the episode where we really started to dive into the stories of our guests' lives. Giving our listeners some background of who they are, which cues into where the insights originated from.

If you haven’t listened to the episode please do, it’s time well spent and if you have. Listen to it again and pay special attention to Steve talking about relationships, why they matter and when it’s time to sever ties.
