After Show Notes: AIP Episode 1 “We must Thrive” With Daren Koehler

This episode - our first one - was focused on connections. I chose Daren as the first guest because he is incredibly knowledgeable about this subject and has taught courses on the topic. We talked about how to build solid connections, as well as some of the factors and distractors that can form an obstacle to them. 

Daren outlined tips and techniques for building good connections. Relevant during the time of the episode - and now - is our ability to establish connections, gain perspectives and show our true selves to others. These factor into how we combat some of the behavioral health issues we see plaguing our society and military. People need to understand they are not alone in their struggles and issues. 

When I reflect back on this episode, I’m transported back to how much Daren and I talked about this topic, and how we both were driven by our passion to tell anyone that would listen about how we had seen it transform people and their relationships. 

It’s incredibly important as leaders and humans - we need to fight for connections. We have to let people know when we are struggling. Life isn’t as shiny, perfectly composed and tastefully filtered as it appears on social media. I challenge everyone to reach out and connect with someone, let them know you are there for them, now and always. It’s an investment and an incredibly important one. You just might come into someone’s life when they need it the most.
